Introduction
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU), a 3A entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), is an independent statutory body that was established in terms of the Special Investigating Units and Special Tribunals Act No. 74 of 1996. The primary mandate of the SIU is to investigate allegations of corruption, malpractice and maladministration in government departments, municipalities and State-Owned Entities and to recover financial losses suffered by State institutions. The SIU’s vision is to be “the State’s preferred and trusted anti-corruption, forensic investigation and litigation agency”. The SIU has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Talent to join our dynamic team. Our team is passionate about fighting corruption and recovering financial losses suffered by the State. Job description

Primary purpose: To execute and implement various corporate governance projects, activities and initiatives. To provide corporate secretariat support to the Special Investigating Unit’s management and corporate governance committees. It may be required to support external governance structures.

Minimum requirements

Minimum qualification and experience: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Law, Corporate Governance, Business Administration, Commerce (NQF 6/7) or equivalent qualification. Three years of work experience in corporate governance, mainly providing corporate secretarial services to Governance structures. Must have a sound and practical understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and King IV Code on good corporate governance. Corporate Governance Industry Related certifications may be an added advantage.

Key performance areas (Include but are not limited to): Corporate Governance: Assist in coordinating Corporate Governance Committee evaluations. Assist in regularly reviewing the Delegation of Authority Policy Framework and other departmental policies, frameworks, and similar documents. Secretariat Support: Assist the Manager of the corporate Secretariat and governance to ensure support is provided to the Corporate Governance Committees. Prepare and distribute Meeting packs for Corporate Governance Committees. Ensure meeting packs are filed appropriately.

Technical skills: Excellent organisational and time management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.

Required knowledge and behaviour (include but not limited to): Sound understanding of good corporate governance principles. Knowledge of policy development. Sound knowledge of legislation and environmental regulations, e.g. PFMA, treasury regulations, Corporate Governance framework, Companies Act, King IV, etc. Sound knowledge of project management principles and processes.
